EVENT: AJWA Sisterhood Brunch and Learn with Ossi Nussbaum, January 28 at 10:00 AM

Ossi Nussbaum will be our guest speaker, talking about "Jew vs. Jew: Religion-State Relations in Israel...A Country in Conflict." Israel is not a secular country and there is definitely no separation between religion and state. On the other hand, it is not a theocracy either. This talk will focus on the very complex relations between religion and state in Israel and the concept of “status quo” in that context. We will discuss the conflictual relationships that shape one of the deepest rifts in the Israeli society — the religious-secular rift, and explore the main controversial issues through the years. We will discuss how much Israel can really be a democracy when some freedoms are denied in the name of religion. RSVP required by January 19 to ajwasisterhood@gmail.com or call Robin at 215.439.6711.10:00 AM
